Marsh Waterway

Okay, so growing up in Louisiana, they called these weekend retreats CAMPS, and in Texas, they are known as LAKEHOUSES, in the Carolinas, they are in the LOW COUNTRY, or COASTAL areas. As a child in Louisiana, I used to love to go visit Mississippi, near Pass Christian, and they really did look just like this! Wherever they are, you know it is going to be a good day when you look out the window and see WATER!

Low Country Marsh Oil Painting

This oil painting is called Low Country Marsh. I worked from
two photos to paint this, and wanted to use lots of greens and
yellow ochre. Just a hint of blue in the water and the sky, very
painterly. Painted on artist wood panel, 1" wood sides.

Small Low Country Oil Painting

This painting is very small, only 5" x 7" When I first started
painting, in high school, my teacher had me work on small canvas boards
this same size. One was entered in the high school art competition, won Best
of Show, and was STOLEN. My teacher found the "thief" - made her
return the painting to me, and I was so embarrassed. I told her she
gave me a compliment by stealing it, and so it was all good : )

Colorful Oyster Shell

I just love painting these oyster shells. Yes, they are very colorful and
not too perfect.  Lots of texture and paint on these shells. Of course, I got some orange in here
and a tiny bit of red. You can find this
8"x10" oyster shell painting  HERE.
