Mermaids Painting on Canvas large

This painting is on a 16" x 20" canvas, sides are painted a neutral

light blue. Kind of a watery feel, I used to paint a ton of mermaids on wood

for my recycledwoodart.etsy.com site I share with my sister. We are trying out

some new designs that are not so large. No fun to have life size wood mermaids

break in transit, but it happens.  So I called this one Mermaid Dance.

Miss the gesture, figure drawing that I used to do a lot. I didn't really learn how to paint faces

until I was teaching high school and my mentor, Mr Dodt, showed me how. He can paint a perfect

portrait in about a minute. Most people cannot do that, it is awesome.

So, I'm painting a series of small portrait, called Girl Portraits from

A to Z. Each girl is given a letter of the alphabet, but this painting is 

a Harajuku girl, trendy little fashionista from Japan. I have painted them

in different styles, all have edges painted in lime so they are ready to hang, or

 lean : )

New Orleans Houses Painting

New Orleans Shotgun Houses. When I was pretty young, we had a sweet

neighbor who had one of these. She would walk all of us girls throughout the house and 

we were just so impressed-no hallways!
