Oyster Painting on Canvas

So I got out the OYSTER SHELLS this morning to paint them.
They both have a touch of my favorite color of the moment - CORAL!

Oyster Shell Oil Painting

They used to have thousands of these shells paving some of the
roads when I was a girl in New Orleans. Now I am just having
fun painting them, not stepping on them. : )

Original Girl Oil Portrait

When I taught high school art, my students would draw each other using the classic
3/4 pose, and I would always do several demos to get them started; they would love to take
the sketches home and I still love this post the most. This girl resembled one of my students, so
I named the painted "Corey's Night" after her! There is an old and very gorgeous painting attributed
to Jean Etiene Liotard, of a young girl with a white wrap, it was from this painted that
I was inspired to paint Corey's Night.

Colorful Oyster Painting

This Colorful Oyster was painted from an oyster that my daughter brought home on her trip
to the beach. There is a lot of Navy and Cream, plus just a touch of Orange.
